The Old Time Fair packed up on the 12th, and by the following Monday most of West Linn had already shifted into a different summer mode. The big weekend at Willamette Park is the loud part of the season. What sits on either side of it is quieter, more repeatable, and the part residents actually live in.
The useful thing to notice about the rest of a West Linn summer is that it is not a scattered calendar. Two anchors do most of the work, one on Wednesday nights in the Historic Willamette district and one on Thursday nights at Tanner Creek Park, and a short August overlay at Willamette Park closes the season. Once you see the grid, planning a week stops feeling like chasing flyers.
Wednesdays hold the Willamette Falls Drive anchor
The Wednesdays in Willamette Summer Street Market runs May 13 to September 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. each week, based out of 1754 Knapps Alley and spilling along Willamette Falls Drive. That is a nineteen-week season, and after the fair weekend there are eight of those Wednesdays still on the calendar. It is the longest continuous public event in West Linn's summer, and it is the reason the district reads as busy even in weeks with nothing else going on.
The market is worth pairing with a walk of the blocks around it, because the tenant list on Willamette Falls Drive has changed more in the last twelve months than it has in years. The West Linn Saloon at 1731 Willamette Falls Dr., in a building that has housed a saloon since the 1930s, reopened under two new neighborhood-based owners. A block up, White Orchid Thai opened at 19349 Willamette Dr. with a soft opening on April 24, 2026. Lark, J. Willy's, Nineteen 33 Taproom, Morrow's Flowers, and Thai Lemon are the older reference points, and the newer arrivals are filling around them rather than replacing them.
Thursdays pull the crowd west to Tanner Creek
The second anchor is the city's free concert series. Music in the Park runs every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Tanner Creek Park, parking and admission are free, and the kickoff features Tom Petty tribute band Petty Fever. That first show lands on July 23. The rest of the run:
- July 30: Radical Revolution, an 80s hits tribute band
- August 6: Wild Boys, a Duran Duran tribute
- August 13: Slicker, a Portland country band
- August 20: 5 Guys Named Moe, closing the season with Motown and soul
Four of the five nights are tribute acts, with Slicker on August 13 as the one straight original set. That is a specific programming choice worth noting if you are picking one Thursday. If you want the crowd to sing along, aim for the tribute weeks. If you want a set that stands on its own, August 13 is the outlier.
Tanner Creek sits at 3456 Parker Road, which is far enough from the Historic Willamette district that Thursday concert nights do not compete with Wednesday market nights for the same parking or the same evening slot. That geographic split is why the two anchors coexist so cleanly. Wednesday pulls people east toward the river. Thursday pulls them west toward the Salamo/Parker side.
August adds a Tuesday overlay at Willamette Park
For three weeks in August a third night activates. Movies in the Park runs Tuesdays on August 4, 11, and 18, starting at dusk, at Willamette Park, 1100 12th St. Willamette Park is the same site the Old Time Fair used, so residents who missed the fair get a quieter version of that same river-confluence setting on three summer evenings.
The practical effect is that the first two full weeks of August carry three programmed nights, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, in three different parts of the city. That is unusually dense for a town of West Linn's size, and it is the window worth blocking out on a calendar if you have out-of-town family visiting.
The quiet story is where casual food happens now
The bigger shift under the summer schedule is not on the event calendar. It is in how food carts have restructured casual dining along Willamette Falls Drive.
The West Linn Tidings reported in March that Ale & Cider House opened a food cart pod on its back patio with five carts: Sauce & Fury pasta, Daily Dose of Aloha, Little Ladda Thai Cart, El Chinchorou, and Shawarma Town, with Kelly's Tacos holding a sixth spot for its return. That pod joins the eight-cart pod at Willamette Garage and a planned pod next to the Willamette Falls Drive roundabout. If the planned pod opens on schedule, West Linn will have three separate cart clusters inside a walkable stretch of one street.
Three pods on one main street is a different structure than West Linn had two years ago. It means a Wednesday market visit or a post-concert Thursday walk down Willamette Falls Drive routes past more than a dozen distinct kitchens without ever entering a sit-down room. For residents who have already tried the anchor restaurants, that variety is the actual news of the summer.
The pods matter for a specific reason on market nights. The Wednesday street market runs until 8 p.m., which is the exact hour that most sit-down kitchens on the Drive hit their post-dinner slowdown. The carts stretch that window. If you are the kind of household that leaves the house at 6:45 and wants dinner at 7:45, the pod pattern is built for you in a way the traditional restaurant pattern is not.
